It’s not lost on me, that the history of a famil It’s not lost on me, that the history of a family at least, is told (or re-written) by the females - certainly in my family.
.
But I’m so grateful to know about those women who came before me because it has given my life context and perspective.
.
In 4 generations we’ve gone from the silk mills in 1800s Suffolk; to living in poverty while seeking their fortune in the depression of London in the early 1910s, 20s and 30s; to working for famous actors and theatre critics in the 1950s, to becoming a secretary to a General at The Ministry of Defence in the 60s; right through to me and my sister who have had successful careers in the media and now run our own businesses doing things we love.
.
I know and cherish these stories- remember the children and babies lost; the terror of having to quickly hide a stolen chicken up the chimney when the police came knocking, and digging in the icy earth at dawn with bare hands for a turnip so the children wouldn’t go hungry ; the daily injustices and humiliations and frustrations of poverty and of womanhood in days gone by; how long it took to save the clothing stamps to buy a new coat in 1942; running away from evacuation; opening car doors at a fancy hotel to make a few pennies; being told that women can become nurses, teachers or secretaries (never mind your dreams....)
.
I hope Marie, Doris, Eliza, Ada, Charlotte, Emily, Elena and the rest of my grandmothers, are proud of how far their granddaughters have come. Because there’s no doubt their bravery, and resilience and resourcefulness paved the way for all that we have now have.
.
So this is to our grandmothers - yours and mine. Happy International Women’s Day
Because every day on this beautiful earth can be a Because every day on this beautiful earth can be a champagne day. My lovely dad taught me that.

You know that sneaky feeling that maybe you’re t You know that sneaky feeling that maybe you’re the exception to the rule and content doesn’t actually work for you....?

Well it’s wrong. Content can work for you... if you stop winging it all the the time and start getting a bit more intentional. That’s what this week’s episode of The Content Download podcast is all about... link in the bio.

Keep it simple, stupid.😎 . If I could go back a Keep it simple, stupid.😎
.
If I could go back and give my old self a bit of business and marketing advice it would most definitely be that.
.
I’m a big ideas person, and I’m naturally pretty impulsive - if it feels good I do it, if it doesn’t I don’t.
.
And while that might sound all exciting and inspiring, in practice when you have kids and a business and limited time to work and lots of private goals and ambitions, it’s a bloody nightmare.
.
It’s got me in to all kinds of pickles if I’m honest... which all end in one place (burn out), So my practice of the last two years has been to keep it simple. Now the truth is this hasn’t always worked (because... impulsive), but as a practice that I keep trying it’s been a huge lesson for me.
.
This year I took it up a whole new notch and decided that rather than getting wraparound care for my kids when the world opens up again, I would only work school hours and stop squeezing work into every gap, which hopefully will mean less moments like this: “Mummy what’s for dinner?” - me: 😱.
.
But it’s also meant I’ve taken a serious look at what my focus is in my business and it’s meant patiently parking some stuff so I can give all my energy to just a few important things.
.
And of course part of that has been taking a serious look at my content. I’ve been asking things like:
👉where are the energy leaks?
👉What am I spending time or money on that doesn’t have the ROI?
👉What’s about vanity and what’s about results?
👉Where am I wasting my resources?
👉what should I be focusing on really?
👉Am I really the best person to be doing this?
.
And it’s doing this work that has now given me more time to sit down to watch RescueBots with Eddie or crafting a shoe box jungle with Alana, or getting my butt into my running trainers (for all our sanity).
.

So my question is, is your content really overwhelming or is it just over complicated? This is exactly what inspired this weeks episode of the podcast, which is all about how to uncomplicate your content (and therefore your life and business!). Link is in the bio or just search The Content Download on your favourite podcasting app.
How can you make your content marketing more focus How can you make your content marketing more focused, more streamlined, more simple right now? How can you do less and have more impact? Where are you getting lost in busy work that’s not actually making an impact?

These are the questions I return to again and again; because even though I love creating content for my business, some times of life it can start to feel completely overwhelming. Like you, I’ve been juggling a lot of change the last few months, which has meant less time for.. well just about everything. Which means it’s time to check back in with the ‘how’ of how you’re showing up, and make sure that your strategy not only gives you the best bang for your buck, but isn’t totally burning you out.

That’s exactly what we’re talking about on this week’s episode of The Content Download.

Copy = not very sexy? Ok, I’ll tell you what IS Copy = not very sexy?

Ok, I’ll tell you what IS…

💓Stopping the scroll with words that speak to your dream customer’s very soul...

💓Subscribers and followers bingeing on your blogs, social media posts and emails

💓Soulmate customers saying YES! Because you know exactly what to say to help them get over their excuses and do what they really want to do (AKA work with you).

When you put it like that you can suddenly see why copy is SUCH an important skill in online business, particularly if you’re relying on social media platforms to find your next dream client.

So...why are you winging it, exactly?

Because ⛔️ A level English or being able to make a blog post sound pretty does not make for powerful copy that converts

So what does?

✅Breaking a lot of the rules of grammar your school teachers taught you...
✅Losing the big words and cleverness - it’s time to cough up that thesaurus
✅Oh, and working out how your ideal customer ACTUALLY thinks...

And that my friends, is exactly what I’m going to be teaching this year at Copy Class with monthly bite-sized copy trainings to help you rocket-fuel your content.

It’s one of this year’s all new member perks for those inside my Fearless Content Membership, which also includes:

👉Monthly hot seat calls where I can brainstorm, critique and give feedback on your content

👉Monthly guest expert trainings with the best digital marketers, mindset experts, social media strategists and content creators online

👉A monthly Q&A - pick my brains and ask me anything!

👉 Private facebook group and community of highly driven, high vibe, heart-led entrepreneurs.

Doors are re-opening for a short time soon… don’t miss your chance to join - get on the waitlist (link in the bio!)
